Where Byron stands:

Housing for every veteran and all our neighbors

Between May of 2025 and April of 2026, more than 10,000 veterans lost their homes to foreclosure after the Trump regime shut down a key safety net in the VA home loan program - and 90,000 more veterans are at risk of foreclosure now.

Our country can and must provide dignified and safe housing for every veteran and neighbor who needs a helping hand. Byron will fight for a national tenant bill of rights and expanded social housing developments to lower the rent and lower the cost of buying a home.

He will bring his constituent services in partnership with community and labor organizing to build real power structures to bring compassion and intervention for everyone who is in need of housing dignity.

Medicare for all

Our resources are not endless and not one more dollar should go to greedy middle men who do not improve the health of our people. Byron will organize for and pass Medicare for All, and exponentially grow our investment in the National Institute of Health (NIH) to direct more of our most curious students and scientists towards spending their time eliminating and curing premature causes of death or chronic illnesses like heart disease, cancer, and mental illness. We must expand teaching hospitals and support for students from underserved communities to become healthcare workers, so we can eliminate maternal infant mortality disparities including among our Black mothers and babies, and have improved health outcomes for all communities across IL-04.

Healthcare for all includes reproductive health care, abortion services, fertility treatments, elder care and home assistance, mental health support, and parental time off to ensure families are supported in every stage of life.

Green jobs. Local economies. A livable future.

Our tax dollars have been misused by both political parties - on wars, on bailouts for banks and the tech bubble, for corporations that don’t even pay taxes. Meanwhile the people in our neighborhoods to who work every day never see their tax dollars they earned come back to serve their own future.

Byron will raise the tax rate on billionaires and invest our resources in our local economies and creating jobs that bring sustainable living-wage jobs for every worker in our communities. Raise the minimum wage to $30/hour. Investments in supporting local entrepreneurs that form the backbone of our economy across IL-04. Civilian climate corp jobs to invest in green energy projects, expansion of natural and recreational spaces, and resilience around storms, floods, heatwaves, and disasters in our communities. This will also include expanding green and public transportation options to increase pedestrian and commuter safety, and investing in renewable energy development so that we don’t depend on fossil fuels to move from A to B.

Abolishing ICE & decriminalization of migration

No human being is illegal. Byron will fight to abolish ICE and end the militarized deportation machine terrorizing our communities. He will ban ICE from operating on public property, shut down detention centers like the Wyatt Detention Center, and end the sale of surveillance data from Flock, Ring, and other systems to resist the consolidation of a surveillance state. He will create a clear, humane pathway to citizenship for the millions of neighbors who build our communities every day. And he will enforce accountability for police officers and demilitarize law enforcement.

No more tax dollars for war in Iran and genocide in Israel

No taxpayer dollars for forever war, apartheid and genocide. Byron will demand an end to taxpayer funded U.S. imperialism and redirect those billions toward our communities at home. Martin Luther King Jr warned of the scourge of the three evils - poverty, racism, and militarism. Investing in global cooperation, global sustainability, and the education and health of our people is the pathway to a bright and sane future and we will build the coalition to win that future now.

Democracy for the people, not for billionaires and corporations

Our democracy is supposed to work for all of us, but today it's rigged for those with the most money to the detriment to the soul of our nation. Billionaires and corporations pour millions into campaigns, lobbyists write legislation behind closed doors, and working families are left with the bill. Byron will never take a dime from corporate PACs or the political machine. In Congress, Byron will fight to end the influence of dark money, ban stock trading for members of Congress, pass automatic voter registration, make Election Day a national holiday, and restore the Voting Rights Act. Byron will forcefully pursue charges against the criminals in the Epstein Files. Democracy shouldn't be something the wealthy can buy. It should belong to every single one of us.

Literacy, Curiosity, Creativity, and Inspiration Now

Every student, 0-100, deserves the opportunity to be inspired, pursue their curiosity, nurture their creativity, and expand their literacy. Byron will fight to restore the US. Department of Education and the civil rights benefits for all learners. He will invest in fully funded public education based on student need and provide every student and family with robust wrap around services and extracurricular activities. As an adult education teacher, Byron supports education as a lifelong pursuit and will invest in education programs for all, beyond adolescence into adulthood.
